SUMMER TIME AND THE LIVING IS EASY

Once again it has been quite a while since we posted anything new. The soccer and wrestling seasons and school year have come to an end. The garden is planted and growing well. The chickens are in their coop and growing fast (looking forward to fresh eggs in a few months). We are welcoming the slower pace of the summer (especially since none of the boys are participating in summer soccer tournaments)! We didn't waste anytime getting started on enjoying the summer. As soon as school let out we headed out of town for almost 2 weeks. First stop: Las Vegas for a night on the way to SUNNY Southern California. Grandpa Doug and Grandma Rayla joined us on the drive while Josh, Jen, Liam & Amber flew out to meet us in Oceanside. We had a great time!
First up was sea kayaking in La Jolla
(Shon, Josh, Jen and Liam stayed back at the condo since Liam wasn't old enough to join the expedition)

As we set off on our two hour tour, our two hour tour (oops sorry flash backs to Gilliagans Island) the skys were a bit overcast but the sea was calm

The sites were awesome!

We spent the next couple of days at Sea World

Spent some time at the beach

Went to the San Diego Zoo
Where Kegan practiced his photography skills with great success

Then it was off to Legoland

Then Josh Jen, Liam and Amber headed home while we headed back to the beach!!
Finally we headed for home by way of a short stay in St George so the boys could wrestle in the Utah Summer Games where they claimed a few metals and met some new friends.

We finally arrived home to find a mushroom farm in our lawn from all the rain we missed while we were gone.

Alright, we haven't updated since Thanksgiving, which means Christmas and New Years have come and gone.... alright most of the winter has passed so here goes

We continued the tradition of holding the Leatherow family party on Christmas Eve (sorry no pics, we were having such a good time we forgot to get the camera out)

Christmas at our house was short & sweet...

But lots of Fun ... The boys got gaming chairs and an new XBOX,

Amber got lots of clothes, and Shon got an MP3 Player and clothes.

Santa even remember Nika & Louie..

During the christmas break Dale & Tom took the kids (minus Kyle who had a back injury from wrestling) sledding at Rolling Hills Park...

Even Dale & Amber managed to get in on the fun

The boys have been busy playing a bit of indoor soccer and doing alot of wrestling (unfortunately we don't have any pics because our camera doesn't do action shots well), ...

Kyle wrestled most of the highschool season at the JV 125 spot and just missed qualifying for state but took 3rd place at Sophmore Region

Logan wrestled for the RockWahl Jr high club at the 70 pound spot and was one of the team captains. He took 4th at the State 4A/5A Junior High Tournament where he suffered a season ending injury (broken collar bone)

Kegan had a great folkstyle wrestling season, he had only two losses all season and took 2nd place at the Beehive Brawl National Tournament in Richfied in January
(the Freestyle season promises to be tougher since he has gained weight and will be moving up an age division)

Perhaps the biggest achievment is Logan becoming a member of the National Junior Honor Society. To achieve this he had to have a 3.7 or higher GPA and good citizenship as well as recive recomendation from a teacher. We are proud of his ambition and drive to be a good student!!!
